Many people ask me how I get started drawing and preparing the image for publishing. It's a simple process.! The first step is finding an image to draw. I photographed and did a drawing of this regal rooster in Laguna Beach and made a collage painting...a perfect place to start. Secong step is an overlay of tracing paper. Draw the image in pencil 50% larger than the original size...getting all design elements in place. Third phase, I place Illustration semi-transparent layout paper over the rough sketch in pencil. I use a light box to illuminate the under drawing. Concentration and focus! This is the time to get out the ink pens and make the final drawing.
"Fowl" art - Pop art or traditional art? Depends on the many perspectives we have to view art! Depictions of chickens and roosters are universal!
Cultural expressions that are timeless and universal all over the world. I've been asked many times...why chicken art?
It started by being a curious observant to my surroundings and being open to endless visual imagery. I had an opportunity to stay at a working horse and cattle ranch in central California and saw exotic roosters and chickens for the first time. Exotic and so unusual to me...........the Polish Chantecler, Araucanas, Polish Sultans. I loved the variety and endless visual possibilities. So...I thought I could have some fun and design something unique to the many lovers of these fowl! Celeste is known for her beautiful and unusual art work.
